We’re Here, We’re Queer, We’re Hungry

We’re here, we’re queer, and we’re hungry.  Fortunately, “here” is Montreal, one of the food capitals of North America.  And as participants in NLGJA’s student project, we’ve been given $100 to save us from starvation and Ramen noodles.

But this is no free lunch.  We’ll be blogging about all of our meals, and about food recommendations.  Have suggestions? Tweet us @NLGJAinsight

Looking for cheap falafel? Look no further than Kojax. But if you want to actually eat – dare we say enjoy your food – then you might want to keep walking.

Items purchased: falafel with salad, pita and fries

Price: $7.32

What you get: six falafels, salad, fries, and pita wedges

The verdict: A lot of food, but only some of it edible. This was the driest, most crumbly falafel I’ve ever eaten, and not in a good way.

Address: We visited the original location at 1389 rue Sainte-Catherine, but there are others.
